Our Volunteers
Oakfield Community offer volunteering opportunities, whether this be ongoing personal volunteering, such as helping out with the gardens, with the day services, at the care farm, or with individual projects; or whether this be for a set time period such as corporate project volunteering. Our volunteers make a huge difference to the day-to-day running of our services, and we are grateful for our volunteers willingness to give their time.
You can see some examples of those who have kindly chosen to volunteer with us below. We are able to cater our volunteering opportunities to your time and need requirements.
If you would be interested in volunteering with us, please contact us via email at info@oakfieldcommunity.org.uk or give us a call on 01933 664 222 - we would love to hear from you!

"I volunteer at Oakfield on Wednesdays to help mainly with caring for and cleaning the animals, including the goats, rabbits and guinea pigs. I usually come from 10am until around 3pm to do things that I enjoy, as fast or as slow as I like. It is a really nice thing to do, the animals really appreciate it, and I do get a cuddle occasionally from the rabbits!
I also spend some time in the greenhouses to help out, such as making bird boxes or planting seeds. There are various ways to volunteer at Oakfield. Sometimes the people living on site also come out and we have a chat, or a coffee and biscuit. If there is anything you want to do or you have a particular interest, do come along!"

"We both volunteer to help in the gardens alongside the gardener at Oakfield who supervises us. This involves numerous jobs through the course of the day. Grass mowing, pricking out seedlings, trimming hedges, planting bulbs etc. The tenants at Oakfield also come out to help with tasks and it is a joy to see them sweeping leaves, weeding, watering plants and lots of other jobs.
For us, it is about giving something back to the community. It is both relaxing and rewarding. Working outside amongst nature is pleasing on the senses, e.g. the birds singing, the wind blowing through the trees, different scents of the flowers etc. Gardening wraps around the other facilities offered on site e.g., Seed to Plate and the Pop-up shop.
Personally, it is a way to meet new people, to become part of a small team, to learn new skills and share those that you have. The days/times we attended are negotiable. You are made to feel welcome and we often find time to laugh together.
At the end of our day the tenants ask us 'when are you coming again?'"
