A Milestone for Oakfield Cmmunity

On Friday 25 September, we were delighted to welcome the Lord-Lieutenant of Northamptonshire, James Sanders-Watson, to Easton Maudit. He officially opened our newly transformed Easton Maudit site, which is now fully dedicated to supported living following the completion of our new flats after a five year development programme.
The open day was an opportunity to thank the many people who have played a pivotal role in this development, while also showcasing the finished flats and sharing what this transformation means for the people who live here.
We enjoyed a fantastic turnout on a beautiful sunny day. It was wonderful to welcome tenants, families, trustees, representatives from the trusts that have supported Oakfield, the Deputy Mayor of Wellingborough, and representatives from the local authority. Guests enjoyed music, food and conversation, and had the opportunity to tour the completed flats as well as explore the grounds, including our care farm.
Some of the people we support have lived at Oakfield for more than 40 years, dating back to when it operated as a residential home. Today, they have their own beautiful flats and can enjoy greater independence while continuing to receive the support they need.
Oakfield supports adults with learning disabilities and/or autism to live as independently as possible and develop their independence skills. Each person has their own home and tenancy agreement, with support tailored to their individual needs, choices and goals.
We would like to give special thanks to our tenants, staff, the trusts that supported the project, our Managing Director, Sharon Wykes, and our Property Manager, Brendan Moylan. The final phase of the flats was completed by local builders JB House, working alongside other local contractors. Together, they delivered homes finished to an exceptionally high standard. Using local contractors was important to us, as it enabled the project to support the wider community as well.
It was a truly special day and a significant milestone for Oakfield. Most importantly, it was a chance to celebrate with our tenants and recognise everything that has been achieved together.
